You will learn how to turn, cut and finish wooden sculptures and how to select and plan for an artistically designed wooden sculpture turned on a lathe. We will cover wood selection, key turning techniques, tool selection and sharpening as well as safety considerations with lots of opportunities to practice. You will be introduced to possibilities for further personalize of your turned objects by texturing, carving, inlaying and various finishing techniques. We will discuss and try out creative designs and aspects of project planning and sequencing. Based on suggested achievable projects you will select and design an object with a personal expression.
This class is intended for starter or intermediate level turners.
